Features

💀

One Life, Total Focus

No health bar, no second chances. Hit the ceiling spikes, land on a spike tile or miss a platform and the run ends instantly — every floor matters.

🧱

Five Platform Types

Plain tiles are safe, red spike tiles are lethal, blue conveyors push you sideways, green springs bounce you toward the ceiling and yellow tiles crumble under your feet.

🎮

Keyboard, Touch or Tilt

Arrow keys or A/D on desktop, hold either half of the screen on mobile, or tilt your phone. All three work at once — nothing to configure.

🕳️

Deep Well Atmosphere

Pseudo-3D platforms, parallax brick walls and a colour palette that shifts every 25 floors from pale blue to deep blue, purple and blood red as you descend.

🔊

Zero-Load Sound Design

Every sound is synthesized live with the Web Audio API — landing thumps, cracking tiles, an accelerating heartbeat when death is near, and a very human falling scream.

🏆

World Leaderboard

Submit your floor count and compare it with players everywhere. Your personal best is also saved locally so you always know the number to beat.

How to Use

1

Press Start

Open the page and hit the start button. A 3-2-1 countdown gets you ready — no tutorial, no settings, no waiting.

2

Steer Left and Right

Use the arrow keys, hold the left or right half of the screen, or tilt your phone. Your character falls automatically; you only choose where to land.

3

Keep Finding the Next Platform

Every platform you land on counts as one floor. Avoid red spike tiles and never let a rising platform push you into the ceiling spikes.

4

Beat Your Record

The screen glows red and the heartbeat speeds up when you are close to dying. When the run ends, tap play again — restarting is instant.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is 100 Floor Challenge?
It is a vertical arcade game where platforms scroll upward at increasing speed while you fall with constant gravity. There are 5 platform types — safe gray-white tiles, red spike tiles, blue conveyors that push you sideways, green springs that bounce you up, and yellow tiles that crumble after 0.55 seconds of standing on them. You get exactly one life, and your score is simply the number of floors you clear before a single mistake ends the run.
Is it really free?
Yes. The game is completely free, needs no account or download, and hides nothing behind a paywall. It also loads almost instantly because nearly every sound effect is synthesized live with the Web Audio API rather than streamed from files, so there's very little to download before you can start falling.
How do I die?
Three ways: getting pushed into the spiked ceiling by a rising platform, landing directly on a red spike tile, or falling out through the bottom of the screen (straight into the fire pit) without catching a platform in time. Yellow crumbling tiles add pressure too — stay on one for more than 0.55 seconds and it breaks away beneath you, so you can't just stand still. Fall speed also climbs from 96px/s toward a cap of 190px/s as your score rises, giving you less reaction time the further you get.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. Touch devices default to gyroscope tilt controls when supported (tilt left/right to move), or you can switch to touch mode where holding the left or right half of the screen moves you instead — toggle between the two anytime with the icon button in the HUD. On desktop, arrow keys or A/D move the character. The canvas fills the full screen on any device and the game can be installed as a standalone app.
Is my score saved, and how does the leaderboard work?
Your personal best floor count is stored locally in your browser. A "submit score" button only appears on the results screen when a run beats that personal best, letting you post your run with a nickname to the shared world leaderboard to compare against every other player.
Are the sound effects downloaded?
Almost none. Landing thumps, spring bounces, conveyor hum, tile cracking, milestone chimes (every 10 floors) and the heartbeat are all generated in real time with the Web Audio API — no audio files to load. The one exception is the falling death scream, a small 1.6-second recorded clip; if it hasn't finished loading yet, the game automatically falls back to a synthesized scream so failure feedback is never missing.
